Partnering with GPEAK to train students/learners

Advancing essential employability skills is an important concern for many organizations. The GPEAK framework allows individuals to develop an understanding of 10 competencies and 50 performance indicators desired by employers. Through reflective learning, activities, and career development exercises, individuals become more aware of their skill level and understand ways to improve.

The GPEAK resources are free and open use for registered sites. To receive access to the GPEAK curricular materials, complete the sign up form. Let us know if you would like to receive an online orientation session.

During the GPEAK orientation session, your trainers will learn about the GPEAK assessment tool, curricular resources, and badging process. Tips will be shared on how to facilitate the resources. The GPEAK site level will be determined. Your site can be Bronze Level (Educational), Silver Level (Work-Based Learning Site), or Gold Level (Employer Site). Here are a few cases of GPEAK sites:

  • BRONZE LEVEL: The Peoria Regional Learning Center is utilizing GPEAK to complete expectations as part of the PaCE framework and with local employers to complete mentor skills assessments of part of their work study program.
  • BRONZE LEVEL: Illinois Central College’s Career Foundation teachers utilized GPEAK for students to reflect on their current  skill levels with individual Essential Employability Competencies to then lead students through  class activities based on the GPEAK curricular resources to further develop and understand the  Essential Employability Competencies.
  • SILVER LEVEL: An intern employer used the GPEAK training materials with their work-based learning program. Interns were introduced to 3 competencies at the start of the internship. They were asked to complete the independent-guided journals. The employer held professional development meetings where they discussed the competencies. At the end of the semester, the employer awarded the interns with their digital badges and certificates.
  • GOLD LEVEL: An employer hired Illinois Central College’s Corporate and Community Education trainers to provide GPEAK sessions with current employees. GPEAK was one element of the training package that was provided. Gold level badges were awarded to employees.
